DDL & Co. to Increase Spring Sizzler Purse by $6100.00

THOROLD, ONTARIO … With the 71st season kicking off in just a few days, Merrittville Speedway has added another sponsor to the season opening Spring Sizzler. Track Owners Don and Lorraine Spiece are pleased to announce that DDL & Co as an additional sponsor to the event. They join JNE Towing and Recovery in presenting Saturday’s event.

James Little, son of Wall of Fame driver, Ivan Little and DDL announced that they have contributed to increase the purse payout. A total of $6100 will be divided amongst the top 5 in each of the 4 weekly classes at Merrittville Speedway competing in the Spring Sizzler. The Corr/Pak 358 Modifieds will receive an additional $2800, while the Right Choice Auto & Leisure Sportsman will see $1550. The Hoosier Tire Canada Hoosier Stocks will see $1050 distributed amongst the top 5 and the Vansickle Pet Valu/PV on the Lane 4 Cylinder class will receive in additional $700 purse money for the top 5.

The additional bonus money sponsored by James and DDL will be pay an extra $700 to the winner of the 358's, $400 to 2nd, $300 to 3rd and 4th and 5th receiving an extra $200/ea. for a total of $1800.00. The Sportsman will pay an additional $1050 with the winner receiving $400 extra, 2nd-$250, 3rd-$150 and 4th and 5th getting $125. The Hoosier Stocks will have their purse expand by an additional $750. The winner will garner an additional $250, 2nd place $200 and 3rd thru 5th, $100 each. The 4 Cylinder payout will increase by $500, with $100 awarded to each of the top 5 finishers.

The hard charger in each divisions feature will pay an additional $500 for the 358's, $250 for the Sportsman, $150 for the Hoosier Stocks and $100 for the 4 Cylinders.

There will be an additional random bonus draw of $500 to the 358's, $250 to the Sportsman, $150 to the Hoosier Stocks and $100 to the 4 Cylinders. This draw will be for all drivers in each respective division who did not receive any bonus money already.

The Southern Ontario Sprints make their long waited return to track and will also be a part of the Spring Sizzler. The winner of the 25 lap A Main will receive $1200. The feature will pay $240 to start.

As Merrittville Speedway gets ready for it’s 71st season, payouts and bonus money are beginning to fully take shape. Track owners Don and Lorraine Spiece have confirmed that weekly purses will pay well north of $400,000 over the course of the season. They have recently announced the Perfect Attendance Bonus of $500.00 to any driver in the 5 divisions that make up the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series that attends every event on the schedule, including the Spring Sizzler. The Spring Sizzler will be a non-points event, but will count to the Perfect Attendance Bonus.

Several sponsors have additionally provided bonus money to each class. Brian's Tire will be paying $100.00 to a random winner in the Corr/Pak Merchandising 358 division each night. Jeff Riley will be paying the winner of the Vansickle Pet Valu/PV on the Lane 4 Cylinder an additional $50.00. In light of the recent passing of former Driver and Crew Chief Mikey Granton, Davey Moore and Kelly George have increased their weekly bonus. Originally, a random winner from either the Hoosier Stocks, Mod Lites or 4 Cylinders each week would receive an additional $106.00 in payout. As a tribute to Granton, that has now been increased to $133.00.

With the Spring Sizzler set for Saturday April 23rd, race fans are reminded that back gates will open at 4:00pm and front gates will open at 5:30pm. Adult admission prices are $23.00, Seniors 60+ are $21.00, Youths 13-18 are $17, 8-12 $10.00 and 7 and under free. Back gate will be $45.00 and $25.00 for 5 and under.
