Merrittville Speedway Prepares For Star Power, Fireworks and More In Victoria Day Long Weekend Doubleheader
THOROLD, ONTARIO (May 15, 2023) … With the Victoria Day weekend fast approaching, Merrittville Speedway is preparing for its annual long weekend Saturday and Monday double header. Canada’s Oldest Dirt Track operating in its 72nd season, will host a full slate of Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series events on May 20th, while Monday May 22nd will see other DIRTcar series invade Merrittville along with major event for the Hoosier Stocks.
Saturday Night’s Niagara Employment Help Centre night will be headlined by a 40 lap DIRTcar Sportsman Series event. The feature will expand our Right Choice Auto and Leisure DIRTcar Sportsman field to start 30 cars in total. The Corr/Pak Merchandising 358 Modifieds, Hoosier Stocks, Rona Doidge Modified Lites, and Vansickle Pet Valu/PV on the Lane 4 Cylinder will all take to the track as well for Saturday’s event.
On Monday, Merrittville Speedway will welcome back Ken Schrader to Merrittville Speedway for ZFS Benefit Solutions night. Schrader will be racing with the 358 Modifieds, in a Pete Bicknell 42 car at Canada’s Oldest Dirt Track. The Hoosier Stocks will compete in a 75-lap presented by Peacemaker 420. The purse for this race will be $8000 with the winning Hoosier Stock Driver claiming $2500. The Corr/Pak Merchandising 358 Modified’s will contest a 40-lap feature, in addition to the Northeast Late Model Alliance and Rona Doidge Modified Lites being a part of the Victoria Day show. The evening will conclude with fantastic fireworks show, lighting up the Southern Ontario sky.
For Saturday’s event, grandstand admission is $20 for adults, Seniors 60 + is $18, Youth 13-18 is $16, Kids 8-12 is $8 and under 7 will be admitted FREE. Pit admission is $40 and kids 5 and under are allowed in the pits for $20.
On Monday, pit gates will open at 4pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, and racing will begin at 7:00pm. Special event admission prices will be in place, with pit admission being $50 and kids 5 and under will be charged $20 pit admission. Grandstand admission is $25 for adults, seniors (60 +) is $22 and youth (13-18) will be $20, with kids 8-12 admitted $10. As always, kids 7 and under will be admitted FREE.
