Mother Nature's Mean Streak Continues at Merrittville
Thorold, ON August 12th, 2023 – Merrittville Speedway regrets to announce the cancellation of tonight’s Niagara Trailers Family Autograph event scheduled for Saturday August 12th, 2023.
This unfortunate decision has been made due to the heavy rains experienced throughout the morning, resulting in significant flooding of the track, on ramp, and off ramp. Owner Don Spiece expressed the speedway’s concerns, stating, “We were hopeful that the radar would be wrong and we would miss this. Unfortunately we got hit with two major down pours. It has been a frustrating summer. We have lost 7 or 8 shows now. Considering the safety of all participants and attendees, we are left with no choice but to cancel tonight’s races.”
Country 89.1 and Giant FM will now sponsor next weeks race on August 19th, 2023. It will be Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series and Family Autograph Night all combined. "The fans love autograph night, as do the drivers. We could not just cancel it", said Spiece.
