(Kansas City, Kansas) Late-season special events highlight the next several weekends at Lakeside Speedway with events on the slate for nearly every type of race fan! Those events start this Friday, September 5th with the annual Tom Karrick Memorial, which now features a $3,000 payday for the winner!
Lakeside Speedway wishes to thank Heather Melvin of Varsity Sports for coordinating this year’s Tom Karrick Memorial. Mr. Karrick lived from 1935 to 1994 and was posthumously inducted into the Central Auto Racing Boosters Hall of Fame and Museum, Incorporated in 2005 for his contribution to the betterment of racing in the Kansas City area. Tom is the Father of 2018 Hall of Fame inductee and current active racer Tim Karrick, of Basehor, Kansas.
The Karrick Memorial race features a $13,000 purse and pays $220 just to start the A-Main with tow money at $75. There is an entry fee for A-Mod drivers. Track-Registered Drivers entry fee is $50 Entry Fee, for non-track registered drivers, the entry fees is $70. Entry Fees includes Pit Pass for the driver. Joining A-Mods on the race card on Friday are B-Mods, Stock Cars, Pure Stocks, E-Mods, and Grand Nationals. All car classes will compete in preliminary heat race and B-Main action as needed before bringing the night to a close with the main events.

Friday Timeline: Pit Gate Opens at 5 p.m., Spectator Gate Opens at 6 p.m., Drivers' Meeting at 7 p.m., Hot Laps begin at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow of hot laps. Advanced tickets available at MyRacePass.com under the Lakeside Speedway Profile by clicking here or by calling call 913-299-9206. All pre-sale ticket sales are cut off at midnight on Thursday. Terrace Spots are available but must be reserved by calling the track in advance. Attendees are reminded that concessions are limited due to product availability and restrictions based on the COVID-19 situation.

COVID-19 related social distancing is recommended and masks are required per the Kansas Governor’s executive order. Concessions are limited at this time due to national food shortages related to COVID-19. Lakeside Speedway will follow CDC Recommendations, which may affect logistics and “normal” operating procedures. Attendees are responsible for their own personal protective equipment and decisions regarding attendance and social distancing.
