Starks Garners Career-Best Result at Lincoln Speedway During Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 3, 2017) – Trey Starks posted a career-best result at Lincoln Speedway last Saturday during the season debut for Gobrecht Motorsports.

“I would say it was really successful as far as everything with the new team,” he said. “I think the best part of the night was how smooth our program ran. We didn’t have any issues throughout the night. With a new team it’s hard to expect stuff like that.”

The event began with Starks finishing where he started – seventh – in a heat race, which missed locking into the main event by only one position.

“It’s tough with the handicap format to really get going because you’re starting in the back,” he said. “Plus, we had a few issues and we’re dealing with new cars so we’re experiencing some things there.”

That relegated Starks to the B Main, in which he finished with a runner-up result to transfer into the 20th starting position in the main event.

“I learned the car a little better and what it needed and how it wanted to be driven,” he said. “I learned a lot in that main event and we passed some cars, too. I was happy with the end result, especially that we went forward.”

Starks charged from 20th to an 11th-place result – his best ever at the track.

“We’re going to test tomorrow and try a few things and hopefully work with our 410 program more,” he said. “I’ve never really tested before so that’s exciting for me. I’m hoping to have some smooth runs this weekend in the Carolinas and taking what we learn in the test session to Susquehanna on Sunday.”

Starks is set for a tripleheader this weekend with races on Friday at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., and Saturday at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, S.C., with the USCS Series and on Sunday at Susquehanna Speedway in Newberrytown, Pa.

He was victorious at both Carolina Speedway and Lancaster Speedway last season.
