Inside Line Promotions – HAMLIN, Pa. (Aug. 21, 2019) – Joey Amantea overcame a tough start to the week and Mother Nature’s constant concern of rain to pick up two top-five finishes in three nights of racing.

It began a week ago Wednesday with a return to Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa,, where rain put an early damper on the track. Amantea started sixth in a heat race and was running in a transfer spot before getting caught up in a wreck. He finished seventh, which relegated him to the B Main. A third-place result in the consolation race missed transferring into the main event by only one spot.

“It was a tough night,” he said. “The track got rained on early and passing was hard. We had an opportunity to run with a provisional, but ultimately it just wasn’t in our best interest to go out and maybe tear something up. We just were not very good.”

Friday night marked a return to Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., and it resulted in one of his best runs of 2019. Amantea lined up in the fourth starting position of his heat race and he moved forward two positions to finish second.

With Mother Nature threatening to cancel the night’s events, Amantea started sixth on a very slick track with the cushion to his liking. He used the top of the speedway to advance to the runner-up result.

“I had issues trying to get around a lot of slower cars and it just took me a while to get up there,” he said. “I was able to capitalize on lapped cars a bit and we got up to second. It was a much better night for us.”

Saturday night marked a second consecutive week of double duty action at Hamlin Speedway. Amantea began his night in Stage One Modified action. He lined up in the second starting position of his heat race and slip back two positions to finish fourth.

In the feature, Amantea started seventh and ultimately worked his way up to a fifth-place finish. For it only being his second career start in the race car, Amantea was happy with the progress he’s shown as well as the finish.

“I really enjoy racing the modified, but it’s a big learning curve for me,” he said. “We improved one spot this week from last week so I’m gaining on it and I’m hoping to do some more racing in them going forward.”

Amantea also ran his wingless 600cc micro sprint, which he powered forward from the 10th starting spot in his heat to finish seventh. However, rain cancelled the feature event. Rain also wiped out Sunday night’s season finale at Action Track USA.

Amantea will return to Linda’s Speedway this Friday and then he will once again do double duty at Hamlin Speedway on Saturday, competing in a micro sprint and Stage One Modified.
