26 Promotions – Madera, CA – (June 18, 2018) – Madera Speedway continues to be cruel to Blake Rogers as the 20-year old driver struggled to find consistency during last weekend’s SpillVak 75 presented by Protect the Harvest.

“Friday night practice went really well for us on old tires, so the crew and I decided not to make any changes all night,” said Rogers. “Saturday morning the car was very tight on old tires, and before qualifying, we made some adjustments hoping to help the car, but it was the worse the car had been all weekend, and we qualified sixteenth.”

Rogers and his crew took a big swing at the setup, before the 75-lap feature, in hopes of getting the car to rotate better.

“The adjustments helped out tremendously, and we were up eight spots in about 15 laps,” explained Rogers. “Later in the race a car ahead of us got loose, and the car directly in front of us slowed up really quick, and I didn’t have time to slow down. I ran into the back of him which caused my car to overheat because the bumper had pushed my nose in and closed the opening that allows air into the radiator. I was devastated when I saw the temperature gauge and knew I had to pull in to save the motor.”

Rogers’ team was able to make repairs to the car to allow him to return to action. While trying to ride out the remaining laps, Rogers noticed that his right front tire was losing air under a red flag forcing Rogers to pull the car back in to have the tire changed. Rogers returned to the track and cruised to a 20th-place finish.

“I’m really disappointed with how we finished because we had a top-five car, no doubt,” said Rogers. “We have had such bad luck this year, and I am really hoping we can turn it around at Kern.”

Rogers is back in action with the Lucas Oil Modified Series for round one of the SpillVak Triple Crown at Kern County Raceway on June 30th.

Blake Rogers would like to thank Lucas Oil, FIRM Inc., MGM Design, Jacks Auto Parts, Mitchell’s Merchant Patrol, Pacesetter Home Centers, Arce Race Engines, Dune Company of Yuma, Big W Sales, and Super Clean for their continued support.
