Dover Earns Podium at I-80 Speedway and Victory at Park Jefferson International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 28, 2018) – Jack Dover captured a pair of podium finishes, including his ninth feature victory of the season, last weekend during races in Nebraska and South Dakota.

“It was another good weekend,” he said. “Any time we can finish in the top five and not have any DNFs it’s a good weekend. I would have liked to win at I-80 Speedway, but we missed the setup and didn’t have enough gear in the car. I ran second about three quarters of it and then Mason Daniel got by me with about seven laps to go. I couldn’t pull off the corner and I wasn’t able to rotate the bottom. I was a little too tight. The bottom was where you needed to be and I couldn’t hold it down there.”

Dover opened the weekend by winning a heat race before he finished third in the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints main event on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.

“My goal every night is to be on the podium so it was a good night,” he said. “For as bad as our car was I was pretty happy where we finished. We were right beside Jake Bubak for the lead in traffic at one point so it wasn’t all bad.”

The weekend concluded with Dover driving into Victory Lane on Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway. He powered from eighth to fourth place during a heat race, which was good enough to make the feature redraw.

“The track was really fast all night,” he said. “I was kind of nervous because we drew bad. Since the track was so good everyone was so fast. We were lucky to get up to fourth and that put us fourth in the redraw. That’s three nights in a row to draw the No. 4. Maybe it’s good luck.

“We got to second right away after the first two corners of the feature. We rode around there for about seven laps. A red flag came out and we made some adjustments. We made the car a lot better. We got the lead about two laps after the restart and never looked back there. It was a tricky track. You had to go into turns one and two full throttle through the top, but in turns three and four you had to roll through it because there was no cushion to lean against.”

The win was Dover’s seventh of the season with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. It set a series record for most victories in a single season. It also marked Dover’s 17th career series triumph, which also leads the way.

Dover is scheduled to return to action this Friday through Sunday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., during the $10,000-to-win Midwest Power Equipment 360 Nationals presented by DeKalb/Asgrow with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series. He was victorious at Jackson Motorplex in June.
