Jeff Karl took the twenty lap Sportsman feature on Thursday while Kegan Bartlome claimed the twenty lap Street Stock feature and Brandon Halcomb took the fifteen lap Hobby Stock feature.
First up was the fifteen lap Melinda! Melinda! Hobby Stock feature event on Thursday night as John Collins and Richard Clem led the field to the green flag. Clem would take the early lead but it would be negated as Kobin Jessop and Dylan Watson spun in turn four, forcing a complete restart. Lille would challenge and get side by side with Halcomb at the line but would be denied as Halcomb took the win over Lille, Aslaksen, Smith, Clem, Collins, Watson, Jay Shields, Jessop, and Richie Gregory.
The twenty lap Milan Automotive Street Stock feature event was up next with Mark Resor and Doug Cantley on the front row. Kegan Bartlome would take the runner-up position from Cantley on lap three in turn four. Mike White would spin by himself in turn four on lap four to bring out the first caution flag of the event. Bartlome would take the lead on the back straightaway on the restart. However, the move would be negated as Macy Fox lost a motor in turn three.
Resor, Bartlome, Mike White, Jeremie Wiggins, and Doug Cantley made up the top five for the restart. Bartlome took the lead on the front straightaway with Jeremie Wiggins taking the runner-up position on the back straightaway. Doug Cantley would stop on the back straightaway on lap fourteen. Bartlome led Wiggins, John Bennett, Resor, and White. Bennett would take the runner-up position on lap sixteen in turn three and again would be side-by-side with Bartlome for the win at the line. However, Bartlome would win over Bennett, Resor, Wiggins, and White.
The Wolfpack Sportsman division was the last division to hit the speedway on Thursday night with Randy Wedell and John Karl leading the field to the green flag for their twenty lap feature event. Karl would get the lead on the start but would soon be passed by his brother Jeff Karl for the lead on lap eight in turn three. Rich Clingan and Jerry Karl would claim the second and third positions on lap nine in turn one while Joe Borczuch would take the fourth position on lap eleven from John Karl. A caution on lap sixteen would set up a restart with Jeff and Jerry Karl side-by-side in front of Joe Borczuch, John Karl and Randy Wedell. Jeff and Jerry Karl would battle side-by-side for four laps, culminating in a finish that one had to stand up to see who won. It was Jeff Karl at the line over Jerry Karl, Joe Borczuch, John Karl, and Randy Wedell.
Next was Friday night's 40 lap supermodified feature with 2001 HyMiler victor Dave McKnight leading the field to the green flag alongside Danny Shirey. Shirey would take the lead in turn four on the start with 2011 and 2012 HyMiler victor Timmy Jedrzejek taking the runner-up position in turn two on lap two. However, Jedrzejek's move would be negated as Justin Belfiore and Jim Paller spun in turn four on lap two, resulting in both drivers being out of the event. The top five for the restart would be Shirey, McKnight, Jedrzejek, Moe Lilje, and Dave Shullick Jr.
Shullick would go to work on the restart, passing Lilje for fourth on lap two in turn two. Next in his sights would be Jedrzejek, who would fall to Shullick in turn two on lap four. McKnight would be next as Shullick flew by on lap five in turn two. Finally, Danny Shirey would lose the lead to Shullick on lap seven in turn two.
Moe Lilje would be the next driver to come alive, as Lilje would pass Jedrzejek for the fourth position on lap eleven. He would also pass McKnight on lap thirteen in turn two for the third position. Mike McVetta, a two-time winner on the ISMA tour, would spin on the front straightaway on lap fourteen. This would set up a restart with Shullick leading Shirey, Lilje, McKnight, and Jedrzejek.
Lilje would pass Shirey for the second position on lap twenty in turn one. Mike Lichty would take the fourth position with five laps to go in turn one. However, DJ Shullick was not to be denied as he went on to win over Moe Lilje, Danny Shirey, Mike Lichty, Dave McKnight, Timmy Jedrzejek, Trent Stephens, Mike Ordway Jr, Mark Sammut, and Kyle Edwards. Ben Seitz, Charlie Schultz, Robbie Summers, Eddie Witkum Jr, AJ Lesiecki, Jon Henes, and Dan Bowes made up the rest of the finishing order. Talon Stephens, Mike McVetta, Joey Payne, Jim Paller, Larry Lehnert, Justin Belfiore, and Rich Reid did not finish.
The thirty lap modified feature event was next up on track with Matt Marlowe and Steven Drew leading the field to the green flag. Marlowe would take the early lead with Kenny Sharp quickly moving into the third position in turn one on lap two. Sharp would assume the runner-up position on lap five in turn two and quietly wait to strike on Marlowe. Modified standout Travis Eddy would spin Craig Phillips in turn three on lap seven, hurting the front suspension on the #78 Howe Racing Enterprises machine and forcing Eddy pitside. Marlowe would lead the field to this restart over Sharp, Steven Drew, Norm Taylor, and Kenny Phillips.
Taylor would take the third position on the restart in turn two. However, the field would quickly be bunched up again as Nathan Embree spun in turn three on lap eleven. Marlowe, Sharp, Taylor, Steven Drew, and Kenny Phillips was the top five at this juncture of the race. Sharp would take the lead in turn two on the restart as Kenny Phillips and Logan Hamilton took the fourth and fifth positions. Chris Hamilton would stop in turn two on lap fifteen, bringing out yet another caution. Sharp, Marlowe, Taylor, Kenny Phillips, and Logan Hamilton made up the top five for the restart.
Jeremie Wiggins would spin in turn one at the halfway point along with Kevin Jaycox and Ryan Winningham. Sharp would continue to lead Marlowe, Taylor, Kenny Phillips, and Logan Hamilton. Taylor would bounce Kenny Phillips off the track in turn three on lap seventeen, forcing yet another caution. Sharp would stay leading over Marlowe, with Kenny Phillips, Logan Hamilton, and Joey Wyckoff filling out the top five.
Stephen Klinect took the fifth position from Wyckoff on the front straightaway on lap eighteen. Steve Jones spun in turn four on lap twenty-two, collecting Steven Drew. Under this caution, Matt Marlowe would have problems with his carburetor that ended his strong showing. Sharp now led Kenny Phillips, Logan Hamilton, Klinect, and Joey Wyckoff. Klinect would take the third position on the restart but Kenny Sharp would go on to win over Kenny Phillips, Stephen Klinect, Logan Hamilton, Joey Wyckoff, Jason Drew, Joey Morisette, Mike Lawson, Jeremie Wiggins, and Nathan Embree. Craig Phillips and Steve Jones rounded out the finishing order while Kevin Jaycox, Jason Wells, Matt Marlowe, Steven Drew, Tom Joy, Norm Taylor, Ryan Winningham, Chris Hamilton, Travis Eddy, and Justin Hamilton did not finish.
Saturday's 50 lap modified feature saw as much excitement as Friday with Norm Taylor and Kenny Sharp leading the field to the green flag. Matt Marlowe would spin in turn three on the start, forcing a complete restart. Norm Taylor would take the lead on lap one in turn four. Joey Morisette would take the third position on lap sixteen in turn three, while Kenny Phillips would take the fourth position on lap seventeen in turn two and Travis Eddy would take the fifth position on lap eighteen on the back straightaway. A debris caution for debris in turn three would fly on lap twenty-nine. The top five for the restart would be Norm Taylor, Kenny Sharp, Joey Morisette, Kenny Phillips, and Travis Eddy.
Sharp would spin in turn one on lap thirty and be sent to the tail. This would force Taylor to hold off Morisette, Kenny Phillips, Eddy, and Stephen Klinect one last time. Phillips would take the runner-up position in turn four on lap thirty, while Klinect followed Phillips through for the third position on the back straightaway on lap thirty-one. Travis Eddy would take the fourth position on lap thirty-two on the front straightaway and would take third on lap thirty-four on the back straightaway. However, Norm Taylor would not be denied as he went on to win over Kenny Phillips, Travis Eddy, Stephen Klinect, Joey Morisette, Logan Hamilton, Matt Marlowe, Craig Phillips, Joey Wyckoff, and Jason Drew.
The HyMiler Supermodified Nationals 100 lap supermodified feature was finally on track as Eddie Witkum and Mike Ordway Jr led the field to the green flag. Ordway Jr went to the lead early with Mike McVetta taking the runner-up position in turn two. Ben Seitz would take the third position in turn two on lap two, while Kyle Edwards went to the fourth position on lap three in turn four. 2010 winner Mark Sammut would take the fifth position on lap five in turn two.
However, from the back of the pack, DJ Shullick and Mike Lichty were making their treks to the front. Shullick took the fifth position on lap seven in turn four while Mike Lichty took the fifth position from Shullick on lap twenty-seven in turn two. Lichty would take the third position on lap twenty-nine in turn three with Shullick taking the fourth position on the back straightaway on lap thirty-two.
The entire complexion of the race would change on lap thirty-six in turn three as AJ Lesiecki spun in front of Dan Bowes. Bowes would move up the track to avoid contact with Lesiecki and the ensuing contact with leader Mike Ordway Jr. would ensure that car owner Clyde Booth would not win three consecutive HyMilers with three different drivers, an unprecedented feat, as Ordway was out of the event. This left Mike McVetta leading Mike Lichty, DJ Shullick, Trent Stephens, and Mark Sammut.
Shullick would take the runner-up position on the restart but again the complexion of the event would change as McVetta slowed to a stop in turn one on lap thirty-seven. Now Shullick would lead Lichty, Stephens, Seitz, and Sammut. Sammut would take the fourth position on lap thirty-nine in turn four, and soon, the caution flag would be out again. "Action Jackson" Moe Lilje would stop on the back straightaway on lap forty with a sour motor. Shullick now led Lichty, Stephens, Sammut, and Seitz.
Dave McKnight would take the fifth position on the back straightaway on lap forty-one. Jim Paller would then spin in turn four on lap sixty-one, forcing yet another restart with Shullick leading Lichty, Stephens, Sammut, and McKnight. Lichty would take the lead in turn four on lap eighty with Stephens also slipping by for the runner-up position. Otto Sitterly would take the fifth position in turn four on lap eighty-four. AJ Lesiecki would slow in turn two on lap ninety, forcing another caution.
Under this caution flag, the complexion of the race would again change as Trent Stephens would run out of fuel one lap short of the scheduled fuel distance. The field would be red flagged for refueling but Stephens would be forced to give up the runner-up position. Mike Lichty, DJ Shullick, Mark Sammut, Otto Sitterly, and Timmy Jedrzejek would make up the top five for this final restart.
Timmy Jedrzejek would take the fourth position in turn two on the restart. However, the big story was DJ Shullick passing Lichty for the lead on lap ninety-two in turn two. Mark Sammut would pass Lichty in turn two with two laps to go for the runner-up position, while Timmy Jedrzejek and Otto Sitterly would take the third and fourth positions from Lichty on the white flag lap to force Lichty to a fifth place finishing position. DJ Shullick would go on to win over Mark Sammut, Timmy Jedrzejek, Otto Sitterly, Mike Lichty, Eddie Witkum Jr., Dave McKnight, Trent Stephens, AJ Lesiecki, Jim Paller, Dan Bowes, Joey Payne, and Kyle Edwards. Ben Seitz, Moe Lilje, Mike McVetta, Mike Ordway Jr., Robbie Summers, Talon Stephens, Rich Reid, Jon Henes, Justin Belfiore, Larry Lehnert, and Danny Shirey did not finish.
