Banks, Oregon- After a wet April it looks like racing will finally return to the “Banks Bullring” on Saturday, April 27th. The Bobby Morley Memorial gets the party started with one of the biggest Street Stock races in the Pacific Northwest and having the winner collect an impressive $500.00. In addition to Street Stocks on the card there will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks/IMCA Hobby Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and the 4-Bees.
The Bobby Morley Memorial began in 2016 with Travis Koch picking up the win while Arnie Case was the victor last year. Unfortunately, the 2017 edition was rained out. Arnie Case dominated last year enroute to his championship picking up fifteen wins in seventeen starts. The 2018 IMCA Modified season witnessed Aaron Elwess best the competition for the track title while Greg Walters recorded the most wins, at five.
Kendall Lee bested the Pure Stock ranks despite Tanner Krohling managing to win six times and a new addition will be the teaming up with the IMCA Hobby Stock class. The IMCA Sport Mods will be featured regularly at SSP after only hosting a couple of races last year and will crown a champion for the first time since 2017. In the Dwarf Cars Shane Youngren won his fourth straight track title despite not winning the most races. That honor went to rising star Jake Tupper who visited the winner’s circle on three occasions. In the 4-Bee division Ryan Conroy had an incredible year with his ten-win championship season.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:00. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each.
SSP would like to remind folks that we are still in the wet parts of the year in the Pacific Northwest and check the track website and Facebook page for updates. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
