Banks, Oregon- The biggest Street Stock race on the Sunset Speedway Park schedule, and one of the most prestigious in the Western United States, will kick off on Saturday, July 6th. The Jim’s Thriftway 100 is the oldest race at SSP going as far back as the 1990s. The race will be a contest of one-hundred laps with the winner receiving a hefty $1000.00. Also, racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, 4-Bees, New Bees, and both Micro Sprint divisions.

Jim’s Thriftway is an independently owned and operated grocery store located in the city of Banks. A staple to the community and a supporter of the Sunset Speedway Park, Jim’s offers great food at low prices. Go online to www.jimsthriftway.com to view their weekly ad, look up helpful recipes, and more or visit them at their location at 660 South Main Street.

Ticket prices are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Kids (5 & Under) are FREE. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths(6-12)) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:00. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.

Past Jim’s 100 winners the last few years have been Ron Jermann (2012), Craig Loomis (2013), Tony Catalano (2014), Kyle Yeack (2015), Arnie Case (2016), Kyle Yeack (2017), and defending race victor Arnie Case (2018). Locally at Banks this season Craig Loomis has the most victories with three trips to victory lane while Zack Simpson, Arnie Case, and Zack Simpson all have one victory.

The IMCA Modifieds have been predominately dominated by Greg Walters. Walters is coming off his fourth triumph of the season at the Firecracker 50 on Independence Day. Only Doug Lockwood, Jeremy Martin and Jerry Schram have managed to best the field once each. The IMCA Stock Cars have only journeyed to Sunset twice and have witnessed two different drivers, Kevin Roberts, and Jerry Schram, collecting trophies.

The 4-Bees have an incredible four-way tie for the most wins this season. Jeremy Hughes, “Crimson” Cody Skies, Captain Turnabout, and Taylor Sayre have all gotten the job done twice while Ryan Conroy and John Gartner only have done so once. For the New Bees, Andie Keller has managed to keep the winning percentage absolutely perfect by finishing first in all the main events.

Justen McConville leads the win column in the Micro Open division with his two wins while Josh Thompson just has one. In the Micro Restricted ranks, it is Keira Zylstra atop the points and winner’s table with her two victories while Braden Maltais has only a single win to his credit.
