Jensen Ford First in Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series Donald “Ducky” Jones Memorial at Wartburg Speedway

WARTBURG, TENNESSEE (June 4, 2021)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series would visit Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Friday evening for the 3rd Annual Donald “Ducky” Jones Memorial and Jensen Ford of Johnson City, TN would be victorious after inheriting the lead on a lap twelve restart and would drive to the $4,000 victory. The win by the 33-year old Ford would be his first career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series victory and would come behind the wheel of a TNT Race Car with a Vic Hill Race Engine and sponsorship from Whitehead Construction, STANCO Equipment, WPR Fabrication, EXEL Enterprises, Tru-Form Racing Products, and Penske Shocks.

Jordan Rodabaugh would take the lead at the start of the 40-lap main event, followed by Eddie King, Donald McIntosh, Jensen Ford, and Perry Delaney. The front five would remain the same until the first caution waved on lap five when Dan Tipton would spin in turn three. The restart would see McIntosh take the second position from Ford, while King and Ford would settle into a battle for the third position. Rodabaugh and McIntosh would put some on the rest of the field and were about to begin working lapped traffic when the caution appeared for a spin by Doug Smith in turn one. The restart would not bode well for the front pair as they would make contact entering turn one, with both drivers spinning and drawing the caution flag. This turn of events would put Ford on the point, but before action got going again, Drew Kennedy would spin his machine and draw the caution flag. Once again got back underway, Ford would hold the top spot, with King second, followed by Anthony White, Garrett Smith, and Mike Weeks. The front trio of Ford, King, and White would put some distance on the field until the final caution waved on lap thirty-two when Dakota Smith’s mount slowed on the backchute. The final restart would see Ford maintain the lead, with King nipping at his heels, but Ford would prove to be too strong and would drive to the win, with King and White finishing second and third, while Smith and Weeks would finish fourth and fifth. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be John Llewellyn, Tim Damron, McIntosh, Kennedy, and Ryan Winchester.

The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will be at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN on Saturday June 4 and will pay $4,000 to win and $400 to start.
