Renegade Sprints Headed to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Sept. 27

Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2014) – The Renegade Sprints will compete at a second track this season.

The 410ci sprint car series will tackle Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 27, for the inaugural Steel City Sprint Monster. The event pays $5,000 to win.

“We’re excited that PPMS wanted to partner for an event this season,” Renegade Sprints Co-Founder Shane Helms said. “We could have 30 drivers that night. I think it’s a big promotional opportunity if we could have that many cars.”

Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Owner Matt Miley said his track has hosted three sprint car events this season.

"Miley Motor Sports would like to thank the sprint car teams that have supported us so far this season," he said. "We have had some great battles between the local competitors and now we get to ramp it up a bit.

“We’ve been looking for a good quality field of sprint cars and the Renegade Sprints fits that bill. We have a smooth, fast, 90-foot wide track with lots of room to race. We think it’s a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor. We want to partner with somebody to help us be a positive force in sprint car racing into the future.”

The semi-banked track is a half mile on the inside and 5/8 of a mile through the middle.

Pittsburgh native Tim Shaffer headlines an impressive list of drivers who have said they will compete at the Steel City Sprint Monster. Randy Hannagan, the winner of the first-ever Renegade Sprints event, will race along with Chad Kemenah, Danny Holtgraver, Greg Wilson, Cole Duncan, Dean Jacobs, Danny Smith, Caleb Helms, Andrew Palker, Travis Philo and Cody Swanson to name a few.

Gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m.
