Oh What a Night

Wentworth, NH.- Friday night was the first night of racing at Legion Speedway in 2022. With the forecast changing many time throughout the day, we decided to go for it and try to get the show in. With some minor showers we were able to get some track prep done and started our 2022 racing season. Two weekly divisions were on hand along with The Granite State Mini Sprints and The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England.
The SCoNE heats races were very fast and the people were excited to see such fast cars and good track conditions for what the weather had thrown at us. The FK rod Ends Heat Race #1 was won by Clay Dow with Wayne Stearns and Will Hull your top three. O'Reilly Auto Parts heat race #2 saw Caleb Lamson win over Matt Hoyt and Jake Williams.
The GSMS ran 2 heats for each the 500cc and the 600cc classes. Sorry i do not have the scoring results from those heat races. But they were good racing and the 600's looked to be real fast.
The weekly divisions of the Non Wing Sprint Cars and the Pro 4's ran some heat races also.
In the Non Wing Sprint Car division it was the 37 of Donald Ottati winning the heat race over 6x Mark Cole and 03 Nick Comeau. In the Pro 4's it was father vs son with Wayne Pillsbury Jr taking down the victory over Wayne Pillsbury Sr. then Jason Darling.
The Pro 4 feature was won by David Bill followed by Jason Darling and Wayne Pillsbury Jr. As the checkered flag waived in the Pro 4 feature a couple rain drops started to fall. Next out was the GSMS 500 feature, they only got five laps in and then the skies opened up with harder rain and we lost the racing surface. We had to cancel the remaining schedule for the night and while we calling the 50/50 raffle winning ticket the power went out.
It was an eventful night and we were happy yo open but disappointed we could not get everything in. Legion Speedway will add the feature events to be run at some point this season.

The kids bike winner was Faith Potter and the 50/50 has not been claimed, see our Facebook page for the winning ticket number.

Next event: Friday June 10th
practice starts at 6pm and racing at 7pm, We will have the make up feature for the Non Wing Sprint Cars at 7pm then move on with regular schedule.
