I-35 Speedway ready for action when the virus war is won
By I-35 Speedway (Winston, MO) -- We miss our I-35 Speedway racing family, the fans, the drivers, the pit crews, the Officials, but the health and safety of all is our priority” stated track owner Mike Johnson. The world has been in constant flux the last couple of weeks, from cancelling meetings of more than 1,000, to more than 250, to more than 50, to the new standard of 10 as established by Missouri Governor Mike Parson.
Many drivers have their cars ready and have expressed a desire to hit the track. We look forward to seeing our racers and fans as soon as possible, though, as President Trump has stated, “we are at war with an invisible enemy”. Let’s win the war and then return to the fun we enjoy at I-35 Speedway. These are times none of us have ever experienced. It has caused changes in our daily lives, how we communicate, how we do many things.
The I-35 Speedway staff is looking at various options to provide extra races for our drivers and fans. When we resume racing, please know that we will take every step to ensure our already clean facility is the cleanest facility possible. This will include our standard practice of disinfecting all surfaces that individuals may contact, and we will continue the use of sanitizers, anti-bacterial soap, and wipes, as we have done for years.
Social distancing is a new word we have all become familiar with during this war. We all have a responsibility in this area. I-35 Speedway has some of the largest areas in the pits, in the parking lot, and in the grandstands to accomplish social distancing. The staff is looking at all avenues on how to apply and ensure social distancing. Please watch our Facebook page and our website for updates. The track is ready and anybody that knows Mike Johnson knows we will be back racing as soon as we possibly can!
