USAC MWRA returns to U.S 36 and I-35

By Ray Cunningham (Kansas City, KS) -- From May 8th thru August 6th the Stars and Cars of the MWRA raced in 8 events in Missouri and Kansas providing exciting racing at 8 different venues, with 5 different winners, and no race team winning more than two races during that time.

Over a 17 day period that number will increase to 13 events, when the Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association returns for repeat performances at US-36, (I-35 twice) Bethany, and Salina Speedway For the first time ever.

From (August 20th to September 6th) those showdowns will take place before ending the MWRA season on September 25th at Valley Speedway to complete the 2021 campaign for this USAC wingless sprint car series.
First up however will be a return to US 36 in Osborn, Missouri on Friday night, August 20th. Earlier this season at US 36, Topeka, Kansas driver Wyatt Burks in the Don Rumsey 11w won his 8th MWRA feature event all-time, and his first with the series in 2021.

On Saturday night, August 21st the wingless sprint cars of the MWRA travel a few miles up the road to I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri for the second night of this doubleheader weekend. Earlier this year Battlefield, Missouri racer Kory Schudy driving the JSR Racing #28 of Jon Sawyer won his 1st victory in the MWRA for 2021. While backing that win up with a repeat victory at CMS the next weekend for his 3rd feature W in the last two years racing with the Midwest Series.

Both of those drivers will make the trip to Northwest, Missouri this weekend to compete. While Schudy will continue his fight with Wesley Smith for the MWRA title in 2021.

Nixa, Missouri driver, and MWRA point leader Smith, racing the Helm/WSR Racing #12/44 has two victories as well driving with the MWRA in 2021. While these crosstown rivals running out of the Springfield area are only separated by 10 points in their quest for the MWRA championship.

Many others will also compete over the weekend with the Midwest Wingless Series and may include 3rd place in points Chris Parkinson of Gladstone, 4th place in points Chad Goff of Spring Hil and the before mentioned Burks running 5th place in points currently.

While 6th place Zach Clark of Olathe, 7th place ROY candidate Odessa’s Xavier Doney, last years hard Charger, 8th place Independence chauffer, Dakota Earls, 9th place in points Zach Sanders of Kearney, and ROY candidate Heath Murry of Tonganoxie, round out the top 10 in points going into this weekends action.
