Harris, Moore among I-35 Speedway winners

By Phillip Wilson (Winston, MO) -- Even with cool temps 115 cars jam packed the pits at I-35 Speedway for the McCarthy Auto Group season opener. At the end of the night fans would see 7 familiar faces in McCarthy Auto Group victory lane with one brand new winner.

The E-Mods started off the feature events with a shootout between "Rowdy" Chris Dishong, Coleman Browning, Casey Burnett, Logan Rash, Justin Asher and Adam Dunwoodie. Dishong would prevail to win #1 on the season, Browning finished second, followed by last week's winner Burnett, Dunwoodie and Asher in the top 5.

In Pure Stock action Josh Marshall picked up the lead with around 5 laps remaining as he secured his first Pure Stock win at I-35 Speedway. Marshall held off Ava Dixon, Brandon Dixon, Ryan Hinkle and Josh Morey for the win.

Shayne Bailey captured feature win #1 of 2022 in the Midwest Limited Late Models as he cruised to victory. Austin Johnson would finish second, Michael Dotson third, Ed Noll fourth and Houston Johnson fifth.

The SMVR made their first appearance at I-35 Speedway with Andy Wiles battling Tom Charles for the win. When the checkers flew Wiles picked up the win with Charles second. Larry Waters battled early and rebounded to finish third, Eddie Neil was fourth and Daniel Schmidt fifth.

Cole Moore had some good runs last season after purchasing a USRA B-MOD. Two races into this season and he had a classic battle with Casey Burnett and motored to his first career win. Tim Galvan would sneak up to finish second followed by Corey Myers, Jace Whitt and Jeff Jackson.

Austin Bouzek started off last season by winning the first 5 USRA Stock Car features. Two weeks into this season and he celebrates his 1st victory of the 2022 campaign. Bouzek battled his cousins, last week's winner Nic Hanes and Nic's son Kameron Hanes who would finish second and third respectively. Aaron Sauter and Thomas Ground would finish fourth and fifth.

Daniel Harris and Tyler Hibner battled it out lap after lap for the USRA Modified feature win. As Hibner led, Harris continued to put on the pressure on the high side and the low side and eventually slipped by for the win. Hibner finished second followed by defending champion Houston Johnson, Lee Hibner and Tyler Grooms.

Isaiah Penton captured his 1st sport compact feature of the 2022 season. Penton would outrun Brad Mick, David Miller, Chris Wright and Bobby Chilton.

Join us next Saturday night for Tompkins Industry's night at I 35 Speedway, the first 36 kids in the gate get to build a pinewood derby car from 5 PM to 7 PM.
