New Start at Wake the Lake 6
Springfield, OH - Going into this year the F1 tunnel boats along with the other big boat tunnel classes will have a little different "Start" to the competition. After consultation and discussion with drivers and various experts Champions Park Lake and Chief Referree, Doug Rea, have made the decision to modify the start. They will take off from the exact same spot but will race towards the right hand turn bouyee on the course and turn left then jet off to another left hand turn bouyee then head back to the course's Turn 5 and run the whole original course with the right hander.
"We felt this accomplished multiple things. Brought the racing and action closer to the fans. It rewards the pole winner with a slight edge in the stagger and resembles a lot of the starts the OPC drivers are used to navigating", stated Doug Rea
Dana Potts, Champions Park Lake promoter, sided with Doug, "I think it's going to add some better visuals and closer action to the fans. Our tailgaters are going to love it and I know from discussions with our drivers they're excited too"
Aug 26-28 the OPC Nationals begin. Tickets are $15 per day or $25 per weekend and kids 12 and under are Free. For more information go to www.championsparklake.com
