Carl Junction, MO | February 10, 2015 - Following a strong five-win season in 2014, Andrew Felker is now set for a loaded 52-event schedule in 2015 as he chases a second career POWRi National Midget championship. With races ranging between six different states and 26 different tracks, the Carl Junction, Missouri resident will see action with POWRi National, POWRi West, USAC National, BMARA, and several more sanctioning bodies.
Competing in what will be his first full season with a Stanton SR11 Mopar powered BOSS Chassis No. 11A in his stable, the 22-year old ace will be seeking out the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series championship for the second time in his career. Since winning the title back in 2012, Felker has followed that incredible year with a second place points run in 2013 and a third place finish last year, but in 2015 he plans to return to the top step of the podium.
The first step in that journey begins just one month from now at a track very familiar to the former micro sprint champion. The 2015 campaign for POWRi and AFR both begins with the "Turnpike Challenge" at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 20-21. It was just last September at the 1/8th mile facility when Felker claimed the first sole POWRi West event at the track and in dominating fashion.
April will see four POWRi point races in Illinois with tracks like Belle-Clair, Jacksonville, and Macon Speedway all on the calendar. May will open with racing in his home state of Missouri, as the "Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals" at Valley Speedway and Lucas Oil Speedway commence on the 1st and 2nd.
The following weekend will see Felker return to Belle-Clair and make his first trip to the St. Francois County Speedway in Farmington, Missouri. After a weekend at Fayette County and Macon, Felker heads to the "Thiel Memorial" at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin for a two-day show to close the month.
The month of June opens with an action packed 11-day span featuring nine races at nine different tracks in two states. POWRi's "Illinois SPEED Week" heads to Quincy Raceway, Jacksonville, Macon, and Belle-Clair from Thursday, June 4th through Sunday, June 7th. The Sixty-Six Truck & Foreign Salvage No. 11A then seeks USAC competition for the first time in 2015, as the annual "Indiana Midget Week" runs from June 10th-14th at Gas City, Lincoln Park, Bloomington, Lawrenceburg, and Kokomo.
Fourth of July weekend brings an enticing three-race strand that starts with a two-day, $5,000 to win Macon Speedway show on Friday and Saturday and closes with the 34th annual "Pepsi Nationals" at Angell Park on Sunday. Felker heads to Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois for the first time the next week along with Belle-Clair on Saturday the 11th. The final two weekends of July will hold POWRi West action at I-44 in OKC and Port City in Tulsa.
The "Ford Eco-Boost Challenge" at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana and the "Knepper Memorial" at Belle-Clair will open up the busy month of August. On the 7th and 8th, POWRi ends a dry spell of racing at I-55 Raceway as they run the "Ironman 55" alongside the World of Outlaws. The month then closes out with POWRi West at Creek County Speedway and three more national races at Lincoln, Macon, and LaSalle.
September kicks off with two days of action at Tri-City Speedway on the 4th and 5th. The “Herb Barlow Memorial” at Jacksonville and the lone trip to Spoon River Speedway for the “Tom Knowles Memorial” will follow that. The second and final leg of the “Ford Eco-Boost Challenge” at Tri-State will close the month.
The final full month of racing in October starts with a doubleheader of racing at Belle-Clair as the “Belleville Bash” and the “Meents Memorial” hits the track on the 2nd and 3rd. Lincoln and Jacksonville will follow that before the 3rd annual $20,000 to win “Jason Leffler Memorial” commences at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Illinois on Saturday, October 23rd.
The only remaining event on the schedule waits just a month away after the conclusion of the regular season. After leading half of the 2012 running of the “Turkey Night Grand Prix,” but missing the event last year, Felker and his team will return to Perris Auto Speedway in hopes of cashing in on the thanksgiving special held at the Perris Auto Speedway ½ mile.
