Thesenvitz Captures Podium Finish at Huset’s
BRANDON, S.D. – For the ninth time in 2014, Jasper, MN’s Trey Thesenvitz crossed into South Dakota territory to compete at Huset’s Speedway.
Thesenvitz was quickest in hot laps in his family-owned #53 Sawyer/Yamaha micro sprint out of 15 total entries.
In heat race action, he would start inside row two, and when the green dropped, a torrid battle ensued for the third spot. As all cars in attendance would be locked into the A, Thesenvitz wisely did not push the issue to take the position in the six-lap race, noting “It was point average [lineup for the feature] so I held the [fourth] spot and get to start up front anyways.”
The point average invert placed Thesenvitz in the outside row two spot on the grid for the 12-lap feature. On the start, he would quickly take over the third spot on lap one, and then went to work on second. A yellow on lap five would bunch up the field, which was followed by a red on the restart. Both drivers involved were okay, and racing was ready to resume. Thesenvitz's motor was slow to come up to speed on the ensuing restart, letting the two frontrunners get away. He would close the gap on second place within a couple laps, and soon found himself taking the spot. By that time, the leader was long gone, and Thesenvitz would come home in the runner-up position.

Thesenvitz is next scheduled to compete on August 23 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, MO for the “Redd Davidson Classic” in the #53 600cc micro sprint entry.
