Spencer Diercks battles in Memorial Day weekend
Spencer Diercks was back behind the wheel of his Roehlk Concrete Contractors No. 29 Super Late Model on Friday night at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) for the Hoker Trucking Series sanctioned opener.
In a field of 33 Late Models, Diercks sixth-to-third run in his heat positioned him on the third row for the A-Main. With $3,000 on the line, Spencer shot out to an early lead but got spun around by a lap car, ending his night on lap 21.
The following night, Spencer ventured south to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) to compete with the MARS Late Model Championship for the eighth round of the tour. After timing in third-fastest in his 18-car group, Diercks faded to finish seventh in his heat. Needing a second-place finish or better in his consolation event to make the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Spencer fell short with a fourth-place outing.
Back in action on Monday, Diercks headed to Benton County Speedway (Vinton, Iowa) for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified event. Locking his spot into the A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his heat, Spencer pulled pitside on the 23rd circuit.
