Hallstrom Overcomes Vibration to Log Top-10 Finish

Inside Line Promotions – BARRE, Vt. (May 31, 2018) – Evan Hallstrom returned to his home track of Thunder Road International Speedbowl last Sunday when he recorded his first top-10 result of the season after battling mechanical problems throughout the weekend.
Hallstrom kicked off the 56th annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic with a few practice sessions. Unfortunately, he battled mechanical woes throughout most of the event.
“In the second practice session I kept feeling a vibration in the car and didn’t really know where it was coming from,” he said. “We thought it was a bent wheel and we changed it, but the vibration continued throughout the rest of practice and heat race as well.”
Hallstrom advanced from eighth to fifth in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the 10th row for the main event. However, he elected to start at the rear of the field – 24th – because of the vibration and the unknown cause of it.
Once the feature started, Hallstrom’s vibration went away and he was able to hook his car up on the outside groove and make his way through the field. At one point Hallstrom climbed as high as the fifth position before he finished the race in eighth.
“I’m not sure what finally happened to get that vibration to go away,” he said. “It made it difficult to focus and run my race, but luckily we were able to overcome and get a good finish.”
Hallstrom’s next race will be at Thunder Road International Speedbowl for a weekly points show on June 8.
