Hallstrom Battles Through Busy Weekend at Thunder Road and Oxford-Plains

Inside Line Promotions – OXFORD, Maine – (Aug. 1, 2018) – Evan Hallstrom hustled throughout a pair of races at Northeast tracks last weekend.

Hallstrom kicked off the weekend at his home track of Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., last Thursday night. He started from the inside of the fourth row in a heat race and fell back a couple of positions to finish ninth.

“We didn’t have too good of a heat race,” he said. “It was kind of the start to our tough night.”

Hallstrom advanced one position to finish seventh in the B Main, which lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for the feature. He was able to salvage a top-10 finish.

“We went backwards in a hurry in the feature,” he said. “We came in for a pit stop and made an adjustment to tighten the car up and picked off a few more positions to get a top-10 finish.”

Hallstrom raced a pair of super late model events at Oxford-Plains Speedway, beginning on Saturday when he advanced from eighth to sixth place in a heat race before finishing 17th out of 27 cars during the 50-lap feature.

On Sunday, Hallstrom jumped back behind the wheel of a super late model to contend in the PASS North Super Late Model 150 at Oxford-Plains Speedway. A pill draw started him on the outside of the fifth row in a heat race stacked with previous Oxford 250 winners and champions. He advanced one position to finish ninth.

“Our heat race was stacked,” he said. “We only passed one car, but the field didn’t really pull away from me so I know we had the speed to hold our own and be up to par with them.”

Hallstrom then was placed in a consolation race in which he finished where he started – seventh. He had one more shot to make the big show in the Last Chance Showdown, but came up shy of a transfer spot finishing eighth after starting 12th.

“The car was off a little bit in the consolation and the Last Chance race,” he said. “Unfortunately, we were unable to make the show, but overall we learned a lot and had fun trying to make our first PASS North race."

Hallstrom’s next race will be this Thursday at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.
