Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Sept. 22, 2020) – Channin Tankersley captured his career-best result with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Saturday during the Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

It was quite a rebound following a frustrating Friday night for the Old School Racing driver. The team hauled to Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., but was unable to race because of mechanical woes.

“I was pretty disappointed with Friday,” Tankersley said. “Going in there, that’s a pretty good track for us and I was really looking forward to seeing how we compared to those guys on a smaller bullring. We had some mechanical problems so we had to sit the night out. Thankfully we got it fixed for Saturday.”

Tankersley qualified 17th quickest on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. He then advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.

“We started off the night a little hesitant, hoping the problem was resolved,” he said. “It ran good so then we could focus on trying to get the car right. As the night went on I felt like we got better. I made a few driving errors on my end that cost us potentially a top 10. For the most part it was a pretty solid night for us.”

Tankersley’s 12th-place outing bested his previous top Outlaw result of 17th.

“It’s kind of reassuring,” he said. “With me not running as much we’re already behind the eight ball. Whenever you can go out and decently run with those guys it fills that void of questioning do we have our stuff well enough to compete with these guys. It’s definitely a confidence boost.”
