Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 10, 2020) – Trey Starks posted his second-best World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series result of the season last weekend during the World of Outlaws Last Call.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver finished 16th on Friday in a field of 40-plus competitors at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. It was his best outing at the track since recording a 12th-place showing in November 2017.

“We had decent speed right out of the gate, especially with the level of competition, and I felt comfortable in the car,” he said. “It was good to be comfortable and fast.”

Starks qualified 10th quickest in his group to open the action. He then finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race to lock into the main event. Starks capped the night by advancing from 19th to 16th in the A Main.

“We had a good qualifying lap that put us in position to transfer through the heat race, which we did,” he said. “The feature was a little different. It was pretty dusty so the racing was interesting. You definitely had to be careful and keep your eyes out front. The racing is always tight there, but having a little bit of dust made it interesting for sure. I was happy with our speed. I felt like we were on par with a lot of the other guys. It’s the best I’ve felt at Charlotte in a couple of years.”

The event concluded on Saturday with Starks timing in 15th quickest. He advanced from eighth to seventh in a heat race before finishing 10th in the Last Chance Showdown.

“I feel like our speed was there, but we just missed a little on the second day,” he said. “We didn’t quite get a good qualifying lap. Everybody was so close it didn’t take much to be mid-pack. We had to start our heat race from the fourth row. I didn’t get a great start and lost a spot, but we got up to seventh. Then we had to try to battle through the B Main. We were a little off and didn’t quite have the drive or the speed we needed. We were missing something there, but all in all it was a good time to get to race with the Outlaws one last time for the year.”
