Cottage Grove, Oregon- After being absent from the racing schedule since 2014 the Hers Precision Parts Wingless Nationals returns to Cottage Grove Speedway. The event will be a one-night affair and will see the third and final visit to Cottage Grove Speedway by the Wingless Sprint Series. This race has been dominated by Kyle Miller who has won it every time since its inception in 2009.
Kyle Miller has three career wins with the WSS. All three of those triumphs have come at Cottage Grove since the series started visiting the historic ¼-mile clay oval in 2016. Cooper Desbiens is the only other winner with a victory last year.
Overall this year Miller is the only multi-race winner, with two. Gary Lynch, Pat Canfield, Rob Lindsey, and Lance Hallmark all have accumulated a single visit to the winner’s circle.
The 2017 winner of the Herz Precision Parts will receive $2000.00 and is $200.00 to start. The driver that sets fast time of the night will receive a 20% Gift Certificate from Walker Racing Development as well as $100.00 from Heather Boyce. The trophy dash victor, heat race winners, and recipient of the hard luck award will all receive $100.00 per honor courtesy of Heather Boyce. The main event hard charger will get a $50.00 Gift Certificate from Speedmart Inc. and an additional $100.00 from Heather Boyce.
The format will begin with two laps of qualifying and eight lap heat races. The number of heat races will be dependent on car count. The top six in combined qualifying and heat race points will be locked into the trophy dash. If there are over twenty-one cars a consolation feature will be ran with twelve laps the distance and the top four transferring. The main event is scheduled for twenty cars going fifty laps.
