Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 9, 2017) – Brandon Hanks is heading north this weekend to make his 410ci winged sprint car season debut in Indiana with the MOWA Series.

Hanks will compete on Friday at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington and on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt. Not only is it his debut with the series, it will also mark the first time competing at both tracks.

“I’m ready to get back in the 410 and try to knock some of the dust off,” he said. “It’s been a long time since we’ve been in that thing. It’s a different animal than the 360. I really enjoy 410 racing.”

Hanks last competed in a 410 winged sprint car in early September of last year when he made his debut in Ohio.

“We don’t have a lot of laps in a 410, but I think we did well last year when we made our debut with the World of Outlaws, National Sprint League and All Stars so hopefully that bodes well for us this weekend when we make our debut with MOWA,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

Hanks is coming off a frustrating finish to the Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown last Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway.

“I messed up to start the night,” he said. “In the heat race (Josh) Baughman started on the pole and I started second. I had been watching the midgets before us and everyone was running the top. Nobody could do anything on the bottom. It was pretty thin up top, but had momentum and there was nothing on the bottom. I knew if Baughman got out ahead I wouldn’t be able to get him. We had a pretty good start. I tried to slide him and spun out. I had to go to the rear and we came back to fifth. I should have just settled for second, but I didn’t want to do that. I could have been more patient.”

Hanks rallied back from the spin to place fifth in a heat race. That relegated him to the B Main, in which a fourth-place result transferred him into the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region main event.

“They tilled the track up so it was hooked up before the feature,” he said. “We made some changes for it and went from 18th to eighth in two laps. We had caught Baughman and was looking to get him when another driver hit an infield tire. When he did it knocked it on the track and he started flipping. It became a huge road block and I had nowhere to go. I got on the brakes hard and the car was drifting to a stop, but I spun around and got hit. That ended my night.”

Hanks returned to the track with a damaged race car, but pulled off a few laps later and was credited with an 18th-place result.
