Setters Earns Two Top-Five Results During Weekend With ASCS Frontier Region

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Sept. 14, 2021) – James Setters scored his first two top-five finishes of the season with the ASCS Frontier Region last weekend during a doubleheader in Montana.

Setters guided his family owned sprint car to a runner-up result on Friday at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade before posting a fifth-place run on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway.

“I think we did pretty good,” he said. “It was definitely a lot of fun and we were proud of how the weekend went.”

Setters opened the action with a heat race win on Friday at Gallatin Speedway. The performance lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

“I drew good for the heat race and got a good start,” he said. “I basically maintained the lead.

“In the main I started second and didn’t get too good of a start. I stayed with the polesitter on the outside until turn one. Two guys got underneath me so we fell to fourth. I got (Trever) Kirkland back in turns three and four that same lap and then Phil Dietz a couple of laps later.”

Setters’ second-place showing tied a career best with the series.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway, where Setters drew the last position in a heat race.

“We drew in the back of the first heat, but I moved up a row before the race started because someone didn’t start,” he said. “So technically we started third and finished third. That got us into the feature redraw and I drew the No. 8 to start the feature eighth.

“Most of my passing I did on the starts, getting underneath people in turns one and two. I got one car each restart. It was definitely nice getting a top five and at the end we were right there battling with the ASCS Frontier Region champion Logan Forler and with Tyler Driever, who finished second in points.”
