Shaffer and Pursley Sweep Lucas Oil NOW600 National Series Doubleheader at Airport Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – GARDEN CITY, Kan. (May 28, 2018) – Daniel Shaffer and Daison Pursley swept the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by MyRacePass doubleheader at Airport Raceway by winning the TBJ Promotions’ 3rd annual Midget Round Up finale on Sunday.

Both drivers claimed the opener on Saturday and put themselves in position to win on Sunday, when a victory in each class was worth $1,000.

Shaffer was victorious from the pole position for the second straight night in the Stock Non-Wing division. The triumph was his second career with the series and it propelled him into the lead in the championship standings.

Jason Friesen placed second with Jim Woods rounding out the podium. Trey Burke was fourth and Jack Kassik advanced from 11th to fifth place.

Jayden Friesen, Bradley Huish and Jace McIntosh were the heat race winners.

Pursley also edged Jason Friesen for a win as he claimed the Winged ‘A’ Class main event. Gunner Bowden finished third, McIntosh ended fourth and points leader Jim Woods rallied from 11th to fifth place.

Mal Mullens, Woods, Hunter Fischer and Brant Woods all captured a heat race win. Ryder Laplante and Skylar Rhoades were the B Main winners for the second straight night.

Next up for the Lucas Oil NOW600 National Series is Sooner 600 Week, which features races on June 20 at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.; June 21 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; June 22 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla.; and June 23 at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla.
