Chaney and CH Motorsports Continue to Carry Momentum

Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (Aug. 30, 2017) – Rob Chaney and the CH Motorsports team continues to produce strong results each time they hit the track.

The partnership that was created at the beginning of this season has clicked quickly and despite only competing a little more than a half dozen times this season, the team has been a contender on several occasions.

That was the case during the most recent race on Aug. 18 at Attica Raceway Park, where Chaney set quick time during qualifying to kick off the night.

“I felt like we were good from the start of the night until the last lap of the feature,” he said. “We’ve had nights where we’ve been good early or good late. We put together a pretty good night from start to finish.”

Chaney then maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race to lock into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 8 to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

“Carson (Macedo) got going a little quicker than I did, but we both got to the front reasonably fast,” he said. “I battled with D.J. Foos for second for quite a while. I passed him with three laps to go. I didn’t have a shot at Carson if he didn’t go to the bottom on the last lap. It let me get a run at him. He was a little better than we were, but the last couple of laps we made up some ground.”

Chaney closed on the leader during the final lap and when Macedo went to the bottom groove entering turn three, Chaney stuck to the favored lane on the top as the drivers charged toward the checkered flag.

“He said he went down there to keep from getting slid on the last corner,” Chaney said. “It was one of those tracks where you needed to catch the cushion coming off. It actually surprised me and I didn’t make as good of a corner as I could have.”

Chaney closed to the bumper of Macedo, who slid up the track exiting turn four, before darting to the inside. Macedo edged Chaney for the win by less than eight hundredths of a second.

“Aaron (Call) and I just met at the beginning of this year so we hadn’t worked together,” Chaney said. “For him and I to take off and be as competitive as we’ve been is pretty encouraging. The other side of it is Carson is one of the up and comers in our sport. To be able to race with guys like that with not having very many races this season is a good confidence booster also.”

The second-place finish was the team’s third podium of the season.

CH Motorsports has a tripleheader on deck for this weekend with races on Friday and Saturday at Attica Raceway Park and Sunday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
