FARLLING SEALS THE DEAL WITH COVETED HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY VICTORY. HEFFNER AND WILBUR OPEN COCKPIT STARS

By Doug Watson

Hagerstown MD, (6/15/24)- Newville Pa’s Taylor Farlling drove the race of his career as he would post his first ever Hagerstown Speedway feature win in Saturday’s 20 lap Late Model Sportsman event. Farlling’s win, aboard his Rocket No.8, would make him the fourth different winner in the five races held for the class this season.
Brad Omps and Farlling shared the front row for the start of the event with Farlling surging into the race lead at the drop of the green flag. Farlling had his car dialed into perfection on the racy Hagerstown surface as he would eventually pace all 20 circuits to collect the breakthrough win. “We tried something we really weren’t sure on, but it definitely was a good idea.” Farlling stated post race. “Our car was on a rail but we started out front so I felt like a sitting duck the whole race.” Omps held tough for second with Andy Anderson, Casey Steinhoff and Justin Dillman rounding out the top five. Heats for the 30 entries went to Brad Omps, Kyle Lear and Casey Steinhoff.
Watsontown Pa’s Kenny Heffner wired the field to score his first career Hagerstown feature win in the 25 lap 305 Sprint car main. Heffner started on the pole and would eventually lead every lap, but would have to fend off a pesky Austin Reed to preserve the win. Heffner’s victory made him the 13th different winner in the 17 event the 305’s have run at Hagerstown. AJ Barton took third with Zach Rhodes and Tim Iulg completing the top five. Taking heat race victories over the 41 car field were John Scarborough, Kruz Kepner, Michael Alleman and Austin Reed with twin B mains going to Timmy Bitner and Logan Spahr.
Veteran Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania pilot Steve Wilbur drove to his second career Hagerstown feature win in the 20 lap Wingless Super Sportsman contest. Lining up 5th for the start Wilbur took the race lead on the fifth lap and would then hold off 9th starting Trent Yoder to score his second Hagerstown victory in the past three seasons. Chad Thomas, Matt Ondek and Cliff Brian Jr trailed at the finish. Heats for the 21 cars on hand went to Brandon Shearer, Thomas and Wilbur.
