Fab4 Fueled by Turners Reset

Five Fast Fridays kick off with Nostalgia Night

Sarver, PA (July 24, 2018) With the Firecracker 100 and Silver Cup in the rearview mirror for 2018, the time has come for five straight Fast Fridays of Fab4 Racing Fueled by Turners Premium Iced Teas to determine our 2018 Track Champions.  Two of the divisions are well at hand, but two others may come down to the final laps of Championship Night.

In the Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprints, defending and two-time Track Champion AJ Flick enters this Friday night with a 12-point lead over 2016 Track Champion Jack Sodeman Jr.  AJ has three wins to his credit this season, while Sodeman scored his second feature win of the season two weeks ago to narrow AJs point lead.  George Hobaugh has been fast all year and is currently third in points, but has yet to park his NAPA Auto Parts #40 machine in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane.  Brent and Brandon Matus round out the top five in points.

Its been all Michael Norris this season in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models and the Crusher Kid has more than two nights worth of points between he and second place Ken Schaltenbrand.  Mike has won four straight Fab4 features, so he will continue to start at the tail of the feature lineup until someone can knock him off the pedestal.  Colton Flinner seems like a prime candidate to do so, as hes been rock solid since jumping into his Uncle John Flinners famed #4T8 Late Model for owner John Johnson.  Mike Pegher Jr. has been fast when hes been at Lernerville, but continues to battle gremlins in the engine.  Matt Lux returned two weeks ago and looked stout, but has been hitting the road for bigger purses in the region, so it remains to be seen how often well see the Detman #111 down the stretch.

If not for Norris, the story of the 2018 season would be the dominance of Rex King Jr.  œCooter? as hes affectionately known, has been the measuring stick in the Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds this season, as Mat Williamson has also been chasing some bigger money closer to home.  King scored his fifth win of the season during the BRP Modified portion of Modified Mania last week and enters the stretch run with a 64-point leader over Dave Murdick.  Jeremiah Shingeledecker and Brian Swartzlander  have both stood in Terry Bowser Excavating Victory Lane this season, but the consistency hasnt been there this season for either driver to contend with King for the title.  Garrett Krummert is third in points and has been beating down the door to Victory Lane, but hasnt been able to seal the deal as yet.

The best points battle and feature finishes this season have once again come from the Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks.  Defending and five-time Track Champion Corey McPherson scored his third feature win of the season recently to nudge ahead of four-time feature winner Tyler Dietz by one point.  Dietz is hungry and fast, but preventing McPherson from winning a sixth title will be no small feat.  Lurking in third, just 22 points out of the lead, is Noah Brunell.  Brunell scored his first career feature win earlier this season and has consistently finished up front to remain within striking distance should McPherson and/or Dietz find some bad luck down the stretch run.

This Friday, July 27 is Nostalgia Night which means that Don Gamble and his crew from Rappin on Racin have made arrangements for dozens of retired drivers, including some Lernerville Speedway Hall of Famers, to be on hand to meet and greet the fans, display classic and vintage race cars, sign autographs, take pictures and do some good old fashioned bench racing!  Chuck and Bonnie Sarver have organized the Dave Thompson Memorial for the Precise Lates.  The event pays $3,000-to-win and has an extra $2,000 spread throughout the purse.
