McPherson Looks To Repeat in 2018; Schneider Leads Penn-Ohio Stocks Into Battle
Last year, track champion Corey McPherson was able to pull off a signature win as he bested the Penn-Ohio Pro Stock field, comprised primarily of cars with open motors, using his normal GM Performance 604 power plant. McPherson held off a hard charging Andrew Gordon to preserve the victory and he didn't stop there as he also topped the field in the DIRTcar/RUSH Pro Stocks. McPherson's once again turned in a season to remember in 2018, earning yet another track title in a battle with Tyler Dietz that went down to the final lap of the regular season.
Coming into Saturday, Chris Schneider leads the current Penn-Ohio Pro Stock Series point standings by nine markers over Andrew Gordon and lies 18 points ahead of third running Rob Shook. Schneider has found victory lane twice in series action this season including a $2017 feature win in the annual Ed Laboon Memorial at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on June 2, and has several Autumn-Motive Fest wins in his career under his belt.
Dobrosky and Jones Separated By One Point In Allegheny Sprint Standings
With just 14 points separating the top three in points in Allegheny Sprint Tour action, and all three events on the schedule remaining slated to take place at Lernerville, the championship will be decided at The Action Track in 2018 and the run to the title starts Saturday. Greg Dobrosky leads Jonathan Jones, Vinny Dougherty, and Drew Ritchey coming into battle on Friday. Dobrosky has managed two wins in his last three races at Lernerville while Jonathon Jones found Victory Lane in 2017 at the Annual Autumn-Motive Fest.
Chad Hill took home the trophy in the last Allegheny Sprint Tour appearance at Lernerville on August, 31 in convincing fashion as he bested the 15 car field on hand.
Pit gates will open at 4 PM on Saturday with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 PM sharp! Adult general admission is $15, $12 for Seniors, $10 for students ages 11-17 and children 10 and under are admitted free. Pit passes are available for $25 for DIRTcar members and $30 for non-members.
