Stock Cars, Modifieds, Power Wheels and a Goat!

The Sandusky Speedway held its fifth event of the racing season on Saturday night with surprising results. Jason Wells would claim victory in the headliner modified division besting Tyler Shullick and Stephen Klinect while Logan Cooper would claim his first career Sportsman division victory. Mark Resor would go to victory lane for the third time this season in the Street Stock division while Brandon Halcomb did the same in the Hobby Stocks.
The Milan Automotive Street Stock feature event would go fifteen laps with Doug Cantley and Mark Resor leading the field to the green flag. Cantley would get the jump on the start but Resor would pass him back by turn three on the first lap with Mike White following Resor by Cantley for the runnerup position. Resor and White would battle with both drivers having loose handling racecars for the entire race until White spun while side-by-side with Resor on the white flag lap in turn two. Resor would go on to win over White and Cantley.
Trent Aslaksen and Richard Clem would lead the field to green in the fifteen lap Melinda! Melinda! Hobby Stock division with Aslaksen taking the early lead. Dan Smith and Brandon Halcomb would take second and third from Clem in turn one on the start with Halcomb taking the runnerup position from Smith on lap ten in turn two. Halcomb would take the lead from Aslaksen on lap thirteen in turn three and never look back, winning over Aslaksen, Smith and Clem.
The Wolfpack Sportsman Division would start with Randy Wedell and Logan Cooper leading the field to the green flag as Wedell led them into turn one. Cooper would take the lead on the front straightaway on lap two while Joe Borczuch would take the runnerup position from Wedell in turn one on lap three.
Clayton and Jerry Karl would take the third and fourth positions on lap four in turn one while Jeff Karl would take fifth in turn two on the same lap. Jerry Karl would get by brother Clayton on lap nine in turn three and their father Jeff would go by Clayton on lap ten going down the back straightaway. Cooper would go on to win over Borczuch, Jerry Karl, Jeff Karl, Clayton Karl and Randy Wedell.
The Digital Yalo modified division was the last feature event of the night as Justin Hamilton and Jason Drew led the field to the green flag. Kevin Jaycox Jr would immediately get by J. Drew for the runnerup position on the start while Steven Drew would pass brother Jason in turn three on lap one. Tyler Shullick and Joey Morisette would take fourth and fifth from Drew on lap three. Chris Hamilton stopped in turn three on lap seven.
The restart would come with Justin Hamilton leading Jaycox, Steven Drew, Tyler Shullick and Joey Morisette. Jaycox would take the lead on the restart in turn two with Shullick and Morisette passing Steven Drew for third and fourth in turn four. Jason Drew would spin in turn four on lap eight stopping the race again. Jaycox, Justin Hamilton, Shullick, Morisette, and Steven Drew would make up the top five for the restart.
Jason Wells would take the runnerup position from Hamilton on the restart while Stephen Klinect and Joey Morisette would pass Hamilton for third and fourth on lap fifteen. Shortly thereafter, Wells would take the lead and Jaycox would start sliding backwards as Shullick, Klinect, and Morisette would pass him in the last ten laps. Wells would win over Shullick, Klinect, Morisette, Jaycox, Jeremie Wiggins, Kenny Sharp, Steven Drew, and Jason Drew.
This Saturday, June 18th, the speedway will host a co-sanctioned outlaw super late model race between the ARCA Gold Cup Series and the Main Event Racing Series as well as modifieds, sportsman, and hobby stocks. For more information, visit www.sanduskyspeedway.com or like us on Facebook!
