Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park bounced back after a disappointing loss to a rain out, on September 15th, to return to racing on Saturday, the 22nd. The night marked the end of the season for the IMCA Modifieds and both classes of Micro Sprints. In addition to those three classes the Pure Stocks, 4-Bees, and IMCA Sport Mods were also in attendance.
Banks veteran Greg Walters recorded his fifth IMCA Modified win of 2018 while Vancouver, Washington’s Aaron Elwess held on to win the title. In the Micro Restricteds Jordi Meese became the newest feature winner and Allison Johnson, of Ferndale, Washington, won the championship. Deming, Washingrton pilot Jeff Little captured his sixth main event triumph of the campaign and logged his third championship, second straight, in the past four seasons.
Tanner Krohling got his sixth Pure Stock win on the year. A massive turnout of 4-Bee’s inhabited the “Banks Bullring” to which Vancouver, Washington driver Travis Koch bested the class for the third time. Finally, Archie Somers got the job done in the IMCA Sport Mods.
Sunset Speedway Park has just one last race left in 2018. Saturday, September 29th will see the end of the campaign and has six classes on the card. Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bees, and the New Bees will all close out the year.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00.
