Tankersley Tackling ASCS Gulf South and ASCS Mid-South Event in Mississippi This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (April 10, 2018) – Channin Tankersley will kick off the ASCS Gulf South Region season this weekend during a doubleheader in Mississippi.

Tankersley and the Bruce Griffith owned team are slated to race on Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram during the King of the Wings III event, which is co-sanctioned with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

“It’s just like any other weekend,” he said. “Our plan is to go out there and be consistent and run up front.”

This year marks the fourth straight season Tankersley has competed at the track. His best result of second place came in both 2016 and 2011, and he posted a fourth-place finish at the track in 2015.

“I’ve come really close to winning there a couple of times,” he said. “It’s a real different surface on it. Whenever it’s right it’s fun and racy. Overall, it’s a nice facility and I enjoy the track.”

Tankersley said the key for a successful weekend is finding grip.

“If you can get forward drive at that place you’re usually pretty good,” he said. “It can get so slick and sandy it’s hard to get ahold of anything. It’s one of the slicker tracks we go to.”
