WHITE CITY, Ore. – Jesse Bailey did all he could September 18, but came up just shy in his effort to overhaul Zach Fettinger of Klamath Falls for the Sweet Tea IMCA Modified title at Southern Oregon Speedway.

In the Dusty’s Transmission IMCA Sport Modifieds, Matt Sanders of Brookings won the title despite finishing ninth in the main event, which was won by Nick Berryhill.

In Outlaw Pro Stocks, Matt Harlow won in a photo finish by .081 seconds over Colby Hammond.

In the Sweet Tea IMCA Modifieds, Jeffrey Hudson set fast time with a lap of 16.601 seconds. Fettinger clocked in fourth, with Bailey just behind in fifth. Mark Wauge, who entered the night a close third in points, qualified third.

Wauge won the first heat race, while Bailey won the second heat race with Fettinger in third. Hudson defeated Wauge to win the trophy dash.

Bailey started third in the 30-lap feature on the way to win. Wauge made his way up from eighth to finish second, followed by Hudson, Andy Freeman and Ray Kniffen Jr. Fettinger came home sixth to win the title by just two points over Bailey, with Wauge just four points out of the lead. Fettinger finished the season with no wins, but seven top-10 finishes in seven features, including four top-five finishes.

In the Dusty’s Transmission IMCA Sport Modifieds, Mike Medel set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 16.969 seconds, with Sanders clocking in second quick. Heat races were won by John Wilson and Medel, while Sanders won the trophy dash.

Berryhill started and finished the 30-lap feature first, taking the win by .560 seconds over Jacob Hoppes, followed by Mike Jones, Isaac Sanders and Merissa Henson. Matt Sanders finished near the back in ninth, but fortunately for him Ryan Peery, his closest pursuer in points, had his own issues and finished 10th. Sanders won the title by 36 points on the strength of one win and nine top-five finishes in 11 features.

In Outlaw Pro Stocks, Dennis Burtenhouse Jr. set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 16.797 seconds. Heat races were won by Burtenhouse and Johnny Cobb. The trophy dash was won by Cobb. Burtenhouse started the 30-lap feature on pole, but in the end it was Harlow taking the narrow win over Hammond, followed by Corey Biggs, Flowers and Burtenhouse.
