Shane Hopkins Wins Night One Of Herz Precision Parts Cascade Wingless Challenge
White City, Oregon- The Wingless Sprint Series returned to Southern Oregon Speedway on Friday, September 23rd, for the Herz Precision Parts Cascade Wingless Challenge. They were joined by the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Northern SportMods, and Super 4’s.
Placerville, California pilot Shane Hopkins was the winner in the Wingless Sprint Series main event when the checkered banner waved. Michael Hodel of Lynnwood, Washington, placed second, with third going to Plesant Hill, California’s Jacob Tuttle. Rob Lindsey from Sherwood and Springfield racer Brent Rich were fourth and fifth.
Mark Wauge of Medford won his second IMCA Modified main event of the season. Klamath Falls’ Steve Borror ended the night second while James Anderson from White City claimed P3. Central Point chauffeur Andy Freeman beat out Phoenix veteran Jeremy Richey for fourth.
Yreka, California teenager Ryan Peery claimed his fifth SOS triumph in the current campaign in IMCA Northern SportMod action. Brookings driver Matt Sanders was the runner-up, followed by Jace Wright of Gazelle, California, in third. The balance of the top five consisted of Medford’s Mike Medel and Austin Petry, from Central Point, in fourth and fifth.
For the second time in 2022, Skipper Klemcheck inhabited the winner’s circle in Super 4 competition. Dan King and Central Point's Rikki-Lynn Knight were second and third. Cliff Massey of Medford grabbed fourth over fifth finishing John Barger.
Southern Oregon Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, September 24th, for their final race night. The Wingless Sprint Series will return along with Super Late Models, Sport Compacts, and IMCA Northern SportMods. For more information, log on to www.southernoregonmotorsports.com.
