Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (June 11, 2018) – Robbie Price was fast during the opening race of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Speedweek last Friday at West Texas Raceway.

The young Canadian finished second in a heat race after leading laps from the pole position. It earned enough points to make the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 3 during the random redraw to start the main event on the inside of the second row. Unfortunately, the engine was running hot and Price chose to pull off the track rather than risk damaging the power plant.

“I think I got out-experienced in the heat race by John Carney II,” he said. “He kind of showed me a line and I got in there behind him after that. We were rolling all right in the feature and were making some decent laps. We dropped back a little bit from where we started. We had a red with about 10 laps to go and I decided it was best to pull off with how hot it was running.”

Following that event, Price and the BDS Motorsports team parted ways. Price had competed with the team in each of the first 10 ASCS National Tour races of the season as well as a half dozen additional races. Price was just outside of the top 10 in the ASCS National Tour championship standings.

Overall in his time at BDS Motorsports this season, Price had seven top-10 finishes, including a season-best third-place result with the Upper Midwest Sprint Series at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., on May 19. Price picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in ASCS competition at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, in April. He also made his debut at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where he earned a top 10 at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

Price visited a number of tracks for the first time this season, including making the trek east to Pennsylvania to race at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg and Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove.

“I appreciate everything Bryan (Sundby) and BDS Motorsports did for me,” Price said. “It’s an amicable parting of ways for us both. I’ve raced as much already this year than I would at home in one year. I have more experience and more laps, against very tough competition, so hopefully I can translate that to some wins back home.”

Price will remain on the road through the end of Speedweek this coming weekend, though he will not be competing. He will then return home to Cobble Hill, British Columbia, to put together plans to compete regionally for the remainder of the season.
