Brock Zearfoss and Destiny Motorsports Gel Quickly at Knoxville Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting the call to take over the controls of the Destiny Motorsports entry heading into the Knoxville Nationals, Brock Zearfoss adapted quickly as the team was able to qualify for the Nationals feature event in what was Zearfoss’s first ever attempt at it.

“Overall it was a good week for us,” Zearfoss said. “We learned a lot as a team and we really got better each night which is huge for us moving forward to finish this season out.”

Taking part in the Capitani Classic, the Front Row Challenge, and the Knoxville Nationals, the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Mooses’s LZ Bar and Grill backed No. 4 car was able to make each feature event highlighted by a 10th place effort during the team’s Wednesday night qualifying effort at Knoxville Raceway.

Finishing 14th during their first night of action at the Capitani Classic, Zearfoss and team then made the trek to Southern Iowa Raceway on Monday night for the Front Row Challenge.

Timing in 22nd fastest in time trials, the ‘Jonestown Jet’ would win his heat race and qualify for the 30-lap feature event where he would finish 15th in his final feature event before the 58th Annual Knoxville Nationals.

Wednesday night brought on his qualifying night, and Zearfoss and crew would come out swinging as he would time the Heavy Equipment Loaders and Parts/Berkebile Oil Company/BAPS Auto Paint and Supply machine in 20th quickest in time trials before a great heat race saw him pick up the win and move into the preliminary night feature event.

Lining up on the pole of the 25-lap feature, Zearfoss would slip back into second as he chased after Greg Hodnett in the opening laps. Running well inside the Top-Five, a late power steering issue would force Zearfoss to hold on for dear life as things became a little challenging in the driver’s seat. Doing all he could, the Jonestown, PA pilot hung on to finish 10th in the feature event and ultimately found himself 20th in Nationals points which placed him in the ‘B’ main on Saturday night.

Finishing fourth in the Saturday night semi, Zearfoss officially locked the Destiny Motorsports entry into the Knoxville Nationals feature event in what was his first attempt that the sport’s Crowned Jewell.

Lining up 24th in the big show, Zearfoss would go toe-to-toe with some of the sports best as he worked around the famed ½ mile for the 50-lap finale. When the grueling feature event came to a close, Zearfoss took the checkered flag with a 19th place finish.

“To make the Nationals in only three races together says a lot about this team,” Zearfoss added. “I am excited to get back to tracks I am familiar with now and see if we can get some good finishes. Thanks to Rick and Barb Rogers and all of our partners for their support.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Moose’s LZ Bar and Grill, Heavy Equipment Loaders and Parts, Berkebile Oil Company, BAPS Auto Paint and Supply, Meckleys Limestone, Champion Brand Lubricants, All Star Performance, KSE Racing Products, HRP, Wilwood, Keizer Wheels, Simpson, Petersen Media, My Race Pass, FK Rod Ends, Boss Signs and Graphics, Classic Ink, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, C&H Veteran Enterprises, and Hoosier Tires North for their continued support.
