Race Mom's thoughts
I finally got to see Kyle race - it was actually my first time this year! There have been so many rainouts and cancelled races that it has been hard for me to match up my schedule to the racing schedule.
This time, we brought a friend of Kyle's and one of his fellow racers, Zach Bohmer, whose parents were busy dealing with some personal issues of their own....hope you're doin better, Sue!!! Jim's brother, Mike, also came, as well as my daughter, Angela.
The weather was pretty great -hot, but not unbearable, and we were somewhere that we have never been to before, Sportsdrome. I like the facility and they have a brand new racing surface. There was a big crowd so the stands were full.
Kyle was so eager to race this weekend. He did fine in practice and after his Dad decided to make a few adjustments, his car performed really well. It was a close race though, with his competitor Chris Hacker gaining as each lap passed!! My heart was pounding, as I tried to videotape. It was wonderful to see Kyle hold his posotion and cross that finish line first!!
Racing is such a crazy sport - it can be quite an emotional roller coaster...the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat. I think that my experiences racing seem to parallel my experiences in life. There are many lessons to learn, but sometimes, I just don't feel like being schooled, so to speak!! However, life goes on and I just have to enjoy the ride...and the race.
