Johnny lands podium finish in second round of Modster Mash at 81 Speedway

Johnny Scott returned behind the wheel of his Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 1ST Modified on Friday night at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) for the fifth annual Grant Junghans Memorial. In a stout field of 74 United States Racing Association (USRA) Modifieds, Scott jumped up one spot in his heat race to finish seventh, transerring him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Locking the Top 3 into the $10,102-to-win A-Main, Johnny fell one spot short with a fourth place outing.

The following night at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) for the second round of the Modster Mash, Johnny gained one spot in his heat race to pick up the 8-lap victory. Starting on the pole for the A-Main, Scott shot out to a commanding lead for the first half of the race but his momentum was slowed by multiple cautions. With a caution flag on lap 37 setting up a shootout over the final three circuits, Johnny was overtaken by a charging Jake O’Neil on lap 38 to drop him to second. A pass on the final lap dropped Scott to a third place finish behind O’Neil and Tanner Mullens with Rodney Sanders and Tanner Phillips rounding out the Top-5.

On Sunday afternoon, Scott headed to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kan.) for the Halloween Hangover at The Hummer. Following a ninth place finish in his heat, Johnny passed eighth cars in his B-Main to place third. Starting the $5,000-to-win finale in 20th, Johnny Scott improved nine spots in the 40-lap affair to come home 11th.
