Scott brothers visit I-80 for Silver Dollar Nationals weekend
Both Stormy and Johnny Scott made the trek to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Thursday night to kick off the Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals weekend with the Dirt Track Bank Go 50. With 46 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) registered in for action, Stormy topped the charts in time trials before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Johnny followed up a fifth place finish in his heat with the third and final transfer spot in his B-Main. With $12,000 on the line, Stormy dropped 10 spots to place 11th while Johnny held onto his starting position for all 50 laps to record a 22nd place outing.
On Friday evening for two rounds of heat races, Stormy dropped one spot in his first heat to place third, while Johnny logged a ninth place outing in Stormy’s secondary ride. In the second round, Stormy came in seventh before Johnny scored a second place finish behind Kyle Bronson. With both drivers failing to finish in the Top 18 in passing points, they transferred into the B-Main on Saturday afternoon for another shot at the $53,000-to-win Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals.
Johnny came one spot shy of a transfer position with a fifth place finish while Stormy recorded a 10th place outing. With the S&S Showdown giving the winner the option to tag the tail of the field or take home the $3,000 payday, Johnny posted a fifth place finish, bringing an early end to his night. Using a provisional into the show, Stormy Scott passed nine cars in the 101-lap affair to register a 18th place finish.
