GORDON ROCKETS TO CAREER FIRST IN HAGERSTOWN LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN. BOOZE FIRST TO REPEAT WITH SECOND CRATE LM SCORE.
Hagerstown MD, (8/24/24)- Mercersburg Pa’s Frankie Gordon became the 8th different winner of the season with his first career Late Model Sportsman victory Saturday night at Hagerstown Speedway. Even though it would be Gordon’s initial division feature win It would be the second for his Rocket No.92 as Justin Weaver propelled the car to a July 20th trip to victory lane.
Gordon started on the pole for the start of the 20-lap main and would take the lead on the first lap and proceeded to pace all 20-circuits over eventual runner up Jonathan Raley. Current point leader Shawn Shoemaker took third, 10th starting Kyle Lear was fourth with Scott Palmer completing the top five. Heats for the 25 cars on hand went to Jakob Piper, Scott Palmer and Kyle Lear.
Brian Booze became the first repeat winner of the season with his victory in the 20 lap Crate Late Model main. Booze took the lead from race long leader Preston Alleman on the 18th lap to post the win over 11th starting Levi Crowl. 13th starting Noah Brunell, current point leader Tyler Horst and Chuck Bowie rounded out the top five. Scott Sweeney Jr and Craig Parrill took heat wins over the 18 cars entered.
Steve Kent continued his breakout season as he scored his 3rd win of the season in the 15-lap Semi Late feature. Kent snared the lead from Allen Brannon on the 13th lap and wood control the final two laps to post the victory. Brannon held tough for a second with Brady Neff, Travis Calhoun and 11th starting Cody Jarvie trailing at the finish. Heats for the 15 cars on hand went to Steve Kent and Travis Calhoun.
Nathan Younker took the lead from Lincoln Sutphin on the fifth lap and would drive off to score his first win of the season in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature. Blake Reed in second and Carter Shank in third posted career best feature finishes with defending track champion Keith Reed and 9th starting Billy Ecton Jr completing in top five. Heats for the 24 car field went to Keith Reed, Billy Ecton Jr and Randy Linaburg.
