HARDY OUT DUELS ROBERSON FOR HUB CITY CRATE LM VICTORY. RUTHERFORD SEMI LATE STAR, REED SURPRISE PURE STOCK WINNER
Hagerstown MD, (9/14/24)- Kyle Hardy scored a thrilling victory in last Saturday’s 30-lap Crate Late Model feature during the tracks annual running of the Hub City Nationals. The win for Hardy, worth $2500, came aboard his iconic Rocket No.99 and would be his 5th career division feature score at Hagerstown.
Hardy and Logan Roberson shared the front row for the start of the event with Hardy surging into the race lead as the field boomed off turn number two. Hardy would lead until Roberson slid by to take the lead on the 16th lap with Hardy in tow. A slew of late race cautions would bunch the field multiple times as Hardy was able to regain the lead from Roberson on the 21st circuit. Over the final nine laps Hardy and Roberson ran neck and neck with Hardy squeaking out the win by a car length at the checkered flag. “We went with a soft tire and Logan was on hard tires so the cautions there at the end kind of helped us as it took him a few laps to get going.” Superb track conditions aided Hardy in his winning drive. “We were able to get a pretty good rhythm there towards the end, but I knew Logan would be coming and we were able to hold him off, it was a lot of fun racing with him.” Roberson’s race finish came to a matter of tire choice. “Those cautions they are at the end killed us.” Roberson stated post race. “It took me a few laps to get going with the hard tire, but will take second and move onto the next one.” Brian Booze took third, Tyler Hoy was fourth with 11th starting Brayden Anderson completing the top five. Heats for the 19 entries went to Ed Pope Jr and Jacob Whitt.
