Banks, Oregon- The 2018 racing season will officially start this Saturday, April 14th, at Sunset Speedway Park. The “Banks Bullring” was able to complete a Test N’ Tune event in late March but unfortunately the second scheduled date for last weekend was rained out. Classes on tap for the Season Opener include the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees.
With a new season always comes with a few changes. Race Director, Justin Thomas, says that there are only a couple of differences from last year but for the most part everything will remain the same.
“Mike Watson will be back in the flag stand this year,” commented Thomas, “I will be up in the tower help running the RACEceivers. At practice we had a great turnout and the track was beautiful which I think is a good sign for the season to come.”
One thing for sure to note is the increase in Super Late Model races at SSP.
“We are going to have a lot of Late Model races this year. I’m hoping we can get some good car counts because that is a very popular class for fans at this place and they put on some good shows here.”
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
