Camron Diatte Wins Second Dwarf Feature Of The Week; Logsdon Conquers Micros At SSP

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park hosted the Interstate Sprint Car Series on Thursday, August 16th as well as two additional classes. They were the Dwarf Cars and Micro Sprints. The Dwarf Cars, like the Sprints, were participating in their first Speedweek and Thursday marked the fifth race of the week for him.
Josh Rodgers, of Longview, Washington, got to the front on the first lap of the Dwarf main. St. Helens driver Jimmy Brinster slipped past Rodgers on the second circuit. Brinster held the position tightly for quite some time until lap nine when Camron Diatte made it around him shortly after a restart. Diatte would have to master several restarts due to a fair number of yellow flags being thrown. Despite being challenged several times the Salinas, California chauffeur held on to win his second win of the Dwarf Speedweek and the first repeat winner of the series.
Macie Logsdon would take care of business in the Micro feature. Casey Starr, of Newberg, showed the way the first two laps before Logsdon made the move to the front. Logsdon, Mount Vernon, Washington, pulled away for some time but started to feel some pressure from Starr towards the end. Macie Logsdon held on to win the main event the third time she has visited victory lane this season.
There will be no racing this weekend at Sunset Speedway Park. However, SSP will be a part of the annual Banks BBQ over the weekend. The “Banks Bullring” will be in action for the Doug Walters Classic with Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees.
