Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park returned for the second and final night of the Doug Walters Classic on Saturday, August 25th. The “Banks Bullring” runs this race in honor of the late owner/operator of SSP, Doug Walters. Classes on the card were Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees.
Portland’s Joey Tanner swept the Late Model competition for the weekend as he went on to his third straight Doug Walters Classic triumph. He is also the only driver in the division to win more than once this season. Keizer chauffeur John Campos took night two in the IMCA Modified ranks to score his second victory at Banks this year.
Joey Tardio became just the third different Street Stock winner in 2018. The Cornelius native managed to put an end to Arnie Case’s incredible win streak. Tanner Krohling got the job done in the Pure Stocks for his fifth trip to the winner’s circle of the season. Lastly, William Wolfe accomplished his fourth 4-Bee triumph of the current campaign.
Sunset Speedway Park will be dormant for Labor Day Weekend. We hope everyone enjoys their holiday and we hope to see everyone on Saturday, September 8th. Classes in action include the Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bees, New Bees, and both Micro Sprint divisions.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. Tickets, apparel, and more can be purchased online at www.pnwdirtracing.com .
