Joey Tanner Wins 2021 Battle At The Border; Harlow And Eaton Also Collect Southern Oregon Speedway Victories

White City, Oregon- Southern Oregon Speedway returned to racing on Saturday, July 3rd, after a couple of weeks off. The White City facility hosted the 2021 edition of the Battle of the Border for the CD Architects Late Models. Also on hand were the Outlaw Pro Stocks and Late Model Lites/Super 4’s for CD Architects Night.
Portland’s Joey Tanner managed to keep his perfect 2021 SOS record intact as he picked up the big victory. It is his third win in as many starts for the Mitchell Family-owned team at the track.
Preston Luckman, from Coos Bay, was second, with third going to La Pine pilot Trent Elliott. Scio’s Rob Campos was credited with fourth while Nathan Augustine, also of La Pine, was fifth.
The Outlaw Pro Stocks were on hand for their second race of 2021 at Southern Oregon. Medford motorist Matt Harlow achieved the victory and is the second winner in as many shows. Johnny Cobb, also from Medford, earned the runner-up spot with Klamath Falls’ Scott Flowers collecting third. In the finishing order, Dennis Burtenhouse Jr., another Klamath Falls racer, and Rick Lukens from Keno made up fourth and fifth.
The Late Model Lites/Super 4’s had their 2021 debut Saturday evening. Charlie Eaton was the one to conquer the class and opened his winning account. Steve Thompson and Jim Cunningham were second and third, with fourth credited to Ross Payant.
Southern Oregon Speedway returns to racing on Saturday, July 17th, for Prestige Excavation Night at the races. Classes on the card include the World Famous Autos Limited Sprints, Sweet Tea IMCA Modifieds, Dusty’s Transmissions IMCA Northern Sport Mods, and Hornets.
