White City, Oregon- Southern Oregon Speedway wrapped up the Pacific Sport Mod Showdown on Saturday, July 24th, for Dusty's Transmission Night. The forty-lap, $2,500.00 to win feature had the Dusty's Transmissions on hand for the second straight evening. Forty-one teams attended night two, as were the Rapp Racing Late Model 4's and Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Association.

When the green flag finally flew for the Dusty's Transmissions IMCA Northern Sport Mod main event, Yreka, California's Travis Peery, took control of the top spot to lead the opening lap. However, it was a short-lived reign as his son, Ryan, and the winner from the previous night, seized control by lap three. Travis rebounded to edge out Ryan on lap four.

Unfortunately, due to a caution, the pass was nullified, handing back the position to Ryan Peery. Six more stoppages were to be had for the rest of the race resulting in heavy lapped traffic being taken out of the picture but restarts even more critical. Ryan was briefly challenged from time to time, but not enough of a threat to his supremacy.

Ryan Peery scored his eighth triumph of the 2021 campaign and swept the Pacific Sport Mod Showdown. It is his second KMJ Performance Oregon State win on the year.

Brookings' Matt Sanders beat out Travis Peery for second at the line on the final circuit. From Grass Valley, California, Andrew Peckham came home fourth over Brentwood, California chauffeur Fred Ryland earning fifth. Two Last Chance Qualifiers were run with wins going to Eagle Point veteran Scott Lenz, in the Nick Berryhill owned machine, and Mike Medel, of Medford.

The Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Association paid their second visit to SOS on Saturday night, but the first time since June 5th. Brock Peters, from Eagle Point, held the torch in the first couple of laps. Five incidents slowed the race down, with three occurring between lap zero and the third circuit. On lap three, Kalvin Morton made his way past Peters to take over the first place position. Unfortunately, the Medford racer of Morton would experience mechanical problems forcing him to bow out early on the eleventh trip past the flag stand.

Josh King would inherit the top place in the running order. King, also from Medford, set a rapid pace the rest of the way to pick up the victory. He is the second different winner in as many shows at Southern Oregon in 2021. Eagle Point's Cody Peters was the runner-up over third finishing Gary Wegener. Erin Morgenster, from Roseburg, was scored fourth, and Central Point chauffeur Trevor Davis claimed fifth.

It was also the second race of the campaign for the Rapp Racing Late Mod 4's. The last time they were in attendance was on July 3rd. Whereas the other two features had at least five incidents, the Late Mod 4 feature went caution-free. Rikki Lynn Rapp set the tone early in the main event. She remained the trailblazer until the fourth trip to the wire.

Overtaking Rapp was to be Skipper Klimcheck. Klimcheck was on rails for the balance of the distance as he went on to collect his first trophy of the year. Rikki Lynn Rapp settled for a respectable second, while Central Point's Dustin Knight was the third-place finisher. Charlie Eaton and Shady Cove native David Marble wrapped up the top five in fourth and fifth.

Southern Oregon Speedway returns to racing on Saturday, July 31st, for the Rocky Nash Memorial and Chamber Night at the races. Classes on the bill include the CD Architects Late Models, Outlaw Pro Stocks, Rapp Racing Late Mod 4's, and Mini Stocks. Pit Gates open at 3:00, Front Gates at 5:00, and Racing starts at 7:00. Advanced tickets can be purchased online on the track website or at the front gate on the day of the event. For more information, log on to the track website or Facebook page.
